Bills urged to bring in former division rival player to boost up defense

Why not add one more piece to the defense?

Even though the summer is coming up, there are still plenty of quality free agents out there for NFL teams to sign for the fall. Some notable players like Amari Cooper, Nick Chubb, Rasul Douglas, Keenan Allen, and Stephon Gilmore are still available. Maybe they are waiting for a bigger offer than what they have received, or maybe they are waiting for all of the pieces to fall into place for the season before they make a decision.

The Buffalo Bills should be a team to watch for in the summer as they have shown in the past that if it makes sense, they will pursue a specific free agent in May/June time. Two years ago, they added defensive Leonard Floyd to pair with Greg Rousseau and Von Miller, and Floyd led the the Bills with nine sacks.

However, this past offseason was an aggresive one for the Bills to where unless an injury comes up in training camp, they more than likely won’t be bringing in any notable free agents. At the same time, it never hurts to add more competition as long as the price is right.

Bills urged to sign a familiar face to add to defense

Mason Cameron from Pro Football Focus (PFF) listed one final move that the Bills should make heading into the 2025 season, and it involves the defense. Cameron suggests that the Bills should pursue someone like veteran linebacker C.J. MosleyFormer division rival C.J. Mosley could be the answer. Despite dealing with injuries this past season, the veteran linebacker clocked more than 1,000 in each of the three seasons prior, earning an 82.9 PFF overall grade in his last full season.

The Bills have linebackers Terrel Bernard, Matt Milano, and Dorian Williams as their primary playmakers. However, the linebacker room has been hit with a bunch of injuries over the last two seasons. Adding someone like Mosley brings not only another veteran to the team, but it brings in much needed depth as well. Having Mosley as a backup is a fantastic setup for the Bills.

Mosley is on the backend of his career and has not had any sort of success the last five seasons as a member for the Jets. If he is looking to go ring chasing, why not stay within the same division and join the unquestionable best team in the AFC East? For the right price, Mosley to Buffalo would be a solid addition for the Bills.
