Training camp will kick off next month for the Buffalo Bills and this is a time for fans to get a look at who could be starters, who should get a roster spot, and who needs to shine greatly in order to make a push for the roster. In the past two training camps, the Bills brought on two players onto the final 53-man roster after the preseason in Joe Andreessen in 2024, and then Tyrell Shavers in 2025.
Both of them deserved a roster spot, and fans got to see them compete every day in order to make it happen. Now, they are able to help contribute to the team moving forward.
Buffalo could very well be looking at another UDFA who they signed after the 2026 NFL Draft that could create some noise in training camp. That player is wide receiver Ja’Mori Maclin, who finished his college career at the University of Kentucky, and is related to Jeremy Maclin who is a former NFL wide receiver who played with the Eagles, Chiefs, and Ravens.
Ja'Mori Maclin listed as UDFA Bills fans must keep an eye on in training camp
Josh Edwards from CBS Sports listed one UDFA for each team that fans should keep an eye out for, and Maclin was listed for Buffalo.
"Maclin is the cousin of former NFL receiver Jeremy Maclin. It is a long shot that he makes the roster, given the talent Buffalo acquired at the position, but the franchise does have a soft spot for UK players; already employing running back Ray Davis, cornerback Maxwell Hairston and defensive lineman Deone Walker. Maclin caught 57 passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2023 with North Texas, but has had limited production over the past two seasons." said Edwards.
The Bills have drafted three Kentucky football players in the last three drafts, so they clearly see what they like within the program. However, Edwards does bring up a great point on the talent that the Bills have acquired when it comes to the wide receiver room.
With the acquisition of DJ Moore and draft selection of Skyler Bell, the Bills’ wide receiver unit is full and there are going to be talented players that are currently on the roster that won’t make it. Maclin surely does have a shot to make it, but he’s going to have to be perfect and not just outwork, but also outshine notable receivers that are expected to make the final roster.
While it could be a great story to follow along with, it’s highly unlikely that Maclin makes the final roster. However, you can never say never.
