The NFL Draft is set to take place in less than a month live from Green Bay, Wisconsin and the city of Green Bay is getting ready to welcome fans and prospects to enjoy this three-day exciting event. Last year, the draft took place in Detroit, Michigan and it was a huge success where the streets of Detroit were absolutely packed.
Next year’s draft is set to take place in Pittsburgh, PA. It’s a great feeling to see cold-weather cities getting the chance to host this event. It really starts the excitement heading into the summer and training camp.
Could you imagine the draft been held in Buffalo, NY? Well, we may have progress on that idea happening according to Bills beat reporter Sal Capaccio, who had the chance to speak with Bills COO Pete Guelli about this possible idea.
According to Capaccio, Guelli said that the organization has been in “constant contact with the league, expressing interest in hosting either the 2028 or 2029 NFL Draft” Capaccio wrote. Guelli also said that the Bills will be sending a group to Green Bay to look at how the draft is operated in a smaller market.
The NFL needs a draft hosted in Buffalo
Think about it. The Bills are one of the most successful teams in the NFL and they are on their way to getting a new stadium for 2026. The fanbase is beyond passionate (maybe even the most across the league), and quite frankly, this city deserves the opportunity to welcome in prospects and fans from around the country.
Whether the draft would be held in either the city of Buffalo or in Orchard Park, it would be a packed placed down the streets of the city. Even though Buffalo is considered a small market, there is nothing small about the passion that the fans and city have for the sport of football.
Now it would definitely take some time to figure out logistics about the draft can be set up. You would have to take a look at the venue, the location, security, etc. However, it’s not an impossible mission. If Guelli means what he says about hoping to have the chance to have Buffalo host the NFL Draft as early as 2028, according to Capaccio, then the Bills have some work to do on top of getting the new stadium ready for the near-future.
