We are heading into the final game of the first month of the season, and the Buffalo Bills are off to a great 3-0 start. Part of the reason why they have had success through the first three games is Joey Bosa, who has been solid on the field for the Bills. While Buffalo’s defense has some major improvements to make, Bosa has created pressure and been a difference maker.

Bosa has forced three fumbles and has collapsed the pocket a handful of times in the first three games. Being on just a one-year deal with the Bills, his production should thrive as he is looking to prove that he can still be a dominant force in the league.

Now, if Bosa has a Pro Bowl level season production wise, there is a chance that he could leave Buffalo to accept a big contract somewhere else. However, Buffalo could easily offer Bosa an extension if they wanted to but if they don’t and Bosa leaves, they will need to bring in his replacement.

2026 NFL mock draft has Bills finding their Joey Bosa replacement

Tarringo Basile-Vaughan from NFL Mocks has the Bills selecting Alabama edge rusher LT Overton in his latest NFL mock draft for next April. Here’s what Basile-Vaughan said about Overton:

"With Joey Bosa on just a one-year deal, the Buffalo Bills use their first-round pick on edge rusher LT Overton. The Alabama star has just 1 sack so far in 2025, but his blend of size, athleticism and power makes him worth a late-first round pick to take a chance on for the Bills. The team could double-dip at this position later in the draft."

Not to mention, the Bills could also see A.J. Epenesa walk out the door as he is in a contract year as well. If both Bosa and Epenesa leave, the Bills will have to go back to drafting on the defensive line early in the draft. They did in 2019 (Ed Oliver), 2021 (Greg Rousseau and Boogie Basham). They have invested a lot into this unit and if there is a big need for it, Brandon Beane could draft Overton who has been a solid player for the Crimson Tide.

Overton hasn’t been a huge impactful player this season, but just like Basile-Vaughan stated, he could be worth a late first round pick for the Bills if he continues his production that he’s had in his college career.
