The 2025 NFL season is coming up here very shortly and teams will report to training camp later this month. Once training camp hits, the start of the season will feel closer than ever. The Buffalo Bills will kick off their training camp on July 23rd at St. John Fisher University. Buffalo will have some training camp battles that fans will want to keep an eye on. However, Bills fans may also want to keep an eye on some opponents that the Bills will be facing this season.

The Bills will be taking on some of the best quarterbacks like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Joe Burrow, and Jalen Hurts. Meanwhile, they are also going to be taking on some very below average quarterbacks as well and we take a look at them as training camp slowly approaches.

Ranking the 5 worst quarterbacks Bills will face in 2025

5.) Justin Fields - New York Jets

There are some QBs on this list that are not preferable starters, and then there are some that have not lived up to their pre-draft expectation. Justin Fields definitely hasn't lived up to expectations when he was drafted high in the 2021 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears.

There are definitely some concerns for the Bills when it comes to Fields, specifically his mobility. That being said, Fields doesn't elevate the current Jets roster at this moment, considering it feels the Jets are in yet another rebuild.

4.) Michael Penix Jr. - Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons surprised most everyone in the 2024 draft when they drafted Michael Penix Jr. in the top 10, considering they had signed Kirk Cousins earlier in the 2024 offseason. In hind sight, it was a smart move considering Cousins' 2024 season was one of his worst, and the Falcons moved to Penix Jr. later in the season.

Penix Jr. at this moment feels more like an unknown than bad, but he doesn't have a full year of experience at the QB position in the NFL. That is what Sean McDermott and the Bills' defense do well is to make life hard for young QBs, and Penix Jr. might continue that trend.

3.) Bryce Young - Carolina Panthers

Bryce Young was drafted No. 1 overall in 2023 and still has yet to live up to that selection. Young showed some promise at the end of the 2024 season, but there are still some questions regarding Young entering this season.

He could take a big step forward, or he could regress. But with how limited that Young is in terms of athleticism and size, there may not be more room for improvement for him.

2.) Tyler Shough - New Orleans Saints

Tyler Shough is coming into a pretty bad situation in New Orleans. However, Shough was also lackluster in college. Having some decent weapons and a decent offensive line can help Shough learn at the NFL level.

But considering the fact that the Saints have been trying to replace Drew Brees ever since he retired and have failed up to this point, it doesn't look great for Shough. Plus, with a new head coach on what seems to be a sinking ship of a team that is in cap trouble, Shough has a lot going against him.

1.) Joe Flacco/Dillon Gabriel/Shedeur Sanders/Kenny Pickett - Cleveland Browns

The only reason that Shough is not No. 1 on this list is because there are far more questions (and dysfunction) with the Cleveland Browns and their current quarterback(s). Joe Flacco is a seasoned veteran who can maybe keep the Browns afloat some, but his best days are far behind him.

Then there are two rookies behind Flacco in Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders, as well as Kenny Pickett who could be in the mix for the starting job, but most likely won't be come Week 1.

This is the hardest room to figure out. With the amount of questions on who is the starter and how good they are, it's clear that this is comfortably the worst QB(s) situation that the Bills will face this season.
