One of the things that is overlooked is which rookie players that your favorite teams will go up against. Especially since the rookies that are drafted early on in the first round will be heavily followed, like QB Cam Ward, WR/CB Travis Hunter, and DE Abdul Carter.
When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, they have been picking on the back end of the first round for many years now so their first-round picks usually don’t get national coverage as much as other ones do. However, that’s totally okay because the last thing we need is a camera crew following around one player.
This rookie draft class has mixed opinions about them. Some fans think that there is a lot of talent that will be shown immediately, while others think that this could be one of the more underwhelming classes. There are going to be a lot of hits and a lot of misses, both immediately and long-term. However, it’s never too early to look at the potential immediate impactful players that could suit up this upcoming season.
B/R lists 3 early DROY candidates (all of whom play against Bills this season)
Damian Parson from Bleacher Report listed six defensive rookies who could very well be in line to win the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 2025, and three of them are set to go up against the Bills.
Those three rookies that will go up against the Bills are Ravens’ DE Mike Green, Browns’ DL Mason Graham, and DE/LB Jalon Walker of the Falcons. The Bills will see Green right out of the gate as the Ravens come to Buffalo in Week 1 for Sunday Night Football. Then they will go up against Walker and the Falcons in Week 6 on Monday Night Football. They will then have to wait until Week 16 to face Graham.
Three of the players definitely have the talent to make a case as to why they could win this award, but the only thing that matters is what they produce on the field. Maybe they will all have great seasons overall, but as long as they aren’t productive against the Bills that’s all that matters.
