Bills rival could lead the charge to steal Joe Brady in 2026

Will 2025 be the final season Joe Brady is in Buffalo?

The Buffalo Bills struck gold when they promoted Joey Brady as interim offensive coordinator in the middle of the 2023, and then eventually made him the full-time coordinator for 2024. Now, Brady is back in Buffalo for 2025 again, but it didn’t happen without Brady first taking head coaching interviews.

In the 2024 offseason, Brady interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons head coach job. Then near the end of the season, Brady was interviewing with teams like the Jets and Saints.

There was a little bit of momentum that there was a chance that Brady was going to take the Saints’ head coaching job, but he eventually withdrew his name from the search which placed him back in Buffalo for 2025. However, assuming that Brady doesn’t have a historic stepback with his offense, he is more than likely going to be a head coach somewhere else next season.

There are four teams that could be on a Joe Brady lookout for 2026, if things don’t go well with their current head coaches. One of those teams is within the AFC East in the Miami Dolphins. Mike McDaniel has no issue lighting up the scoreboards in September and a little bit of October. However, the Dolphins are no threat come December time whether they make the playoffs or not.

It’s been the same story every year under McDaniel. They get off to a hot start and then immediately cool down and either get bounced in the first round, or miss the playoffs completely. If the Dolphins were to move off of McDaniel, but still wanted to keep an offensive minded head coach presence, then Brady could be the perfect candidate. However, they aren’t the only team to possibly be on the watch for Brady.

Dolphins aren't the only team who could steal Joe Brady away from Buffalo

Making the case for New York Giants

The New York Giants, who have two former members of the Bills with Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll, are in a bad place within their organization. The Daniel Jones contract that was given out by Schoen himself could ultimately be the reason that he and maybe Daboll are out of New York after or during the season.

Owner John Mara has not made it a secret that he wants a different turnout for the Giants than what they have produced the last couple of seasons. If Schoen and Daboll can’t turn the ship around, the Giants could be in the search market for a new regime, which could include Brady.

Making the case for Cleveland Browns

The Cleveland Browns are a complete mess ever since they traded for Deshaun Watson and gave him a massive $230 million fully guaranteed contract. However, we can’t put the blame on the regime of Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski as Browns’ ownership has taken responsibility for the Watson disaster.

At the same time, people are used as the scapegoat all the time and if the Browns have yet another disappointing season (even with drafting two rookie quarterbacks, then maybe they decide to make a change at the top.

Making the case for Indianapolis Colts

Much like the Giants, the ownership for the Indianapolis Colts may not be sold on Chris Ballard and Shane Steichen anymore. The Colts have been disappointing in recent memory, and part of it is due to the lack of development with Anthony Richardson. The fact that they had to bring in Daniel Jones as competition should tell you everything that you need to know…

Jim Irsay has proven that he’s not afraid to make the move and get rid of a coach before. Steichen could be next if the Colts either get off to a slow start or have a bad ending to their 2025 season.
