The NFL Draft is just over a week away and the Buffalo Bills are finishing up their homework here soon on meeting with prospects to see who they could be interested in bringing to the organization. According to Ian Rapoport, the Bills are hosting Ole Miss cornerback Trey Amos on a visit in Buffalo.

The Bills have no choice but to acquire a cornerback in the first two rounds if they want to solidify their secondary outside of Christian Benford. While they have their CB1 of the future, they are hurting badly at CB2 and having quality depth. Adding someone like Amos immediately upgrades their room, that’s how bad the room is currently.

Amos is a big corner who is great at press coverage and was a ballhawk in his final season with the Rebels. He had a season-high 3 interceptions to go with 50 total tackles. Sean McDermott likes defensive backs who aren’t afraid to be physical in both the pass and the run, and Amos is a perfect fit for his scheme.

Trey Amos is a safe pick for Bills in NFL Draft

There’s nothing wrong with going with a safe pick, especially when you look at the weakness the Bills have in the secondary. Pairing Amos and Benford together for the next four years, at minimum, gives the Bills major stability to a position that has been lacking in recent memories.

Even though Rasul Douglas was a fantastic mid-year addition in 2023, the Bills need a long-term solution in the secondary. Douglas remains unsigned and unless the Bills can get him for a hometown discount, it’s hard seeing him coming back to Buffalo.

If Amos is on the board by the time the Bills are on the clock at No. 30, don’t be surprised if Buffalo takes him there. Right there, it solidifies a big position of need and it gives the Bills flexibility to shape out the rest of their roster.

The NFL Draft is right around the corner, Bills Mafia. It’s time to start taking a deeper look into this class and see who could be on their way to being part of the organization for the future. The Bills are so close to reaching the Super Bowl and taking it all. They need to have a great draft this year in order to get over the top. Let’s see if Amos will be part of it.
