It’s a new week in the NFL, and it’s time for the Buffalo Bills to wipe away the memory of losing their first game of the season to the New England Patriots. Buffalo will begin their two week stretch of playing on the road out on the west coast. Up first are the Los Angeles Rams, and then they will be taking on the Las Vegas Raiders.
One loss shouldn't define the Bills, but it's hard to not think about it. Getting back on track against a Rams team is a great way to bounce back and get back in the win column. However, Lou Scataglia of NFL Spin Zone doesn't see that happening.
Week 5 score prediction shows Bills' defense letting Buffalo down
Scataglia predicted each NFL score in Week 5 and he has the Bills losing to the Rams, 30-8, which would be the third game that Buffalo’s defense would give up 30+ points this season.
"Both teams are very good, but both teams do have some flaws. The Bills are 3-1 on the season, but QB Josh Allen really hasn’t played that well in the past two games. Allen has thrown one touchdown pass against three interceptions during this stretch, and this could be the part of his season where he endures a rough stretch." said Scataglia.
"The defense has also not been that good this year, either. Buffalo’s unit ranks just 25th in points allowed per game. The top-ranked scoring offense is what has kept them in games and has helped them start 3-1." Scataglia added.
"Los Angeles wins this one by two points thanks to a late-game field goal to take the lead." Scataglia also added.
Buffalo's defense has only had one true dominate performance this season, which was against the Los Angeles Chargers. Other than that, they have nearly fallen apart, or have collapsed like they did against the Patriots.
They are not great against the pass like they were under Sean McDermott. Their run-defense has somewhat improved, but they are inconsistent. While they are getting great pressure, there are times when the quarterback makes the one-second early play to avoid getting hit or sacked.
Bills fans are getting tired of seeing the defense not showing up when it matters the most. If a team is losing but they are putting up 20-25+ points per game, the offense is not to blame. Now, are they also contributing to mistakes? Absolutely. At the same time, it's the defense's job to step up and prevent the opposing offense to get into a rhythm.
The Rams' offeense has not been what we know it can be this season. However, the Patriots' offense was absolutely awful going into Week 4, and they managed to put up over 400 total yards and 29 points on Buffalo. The Bills are going to be in for a rough Monday night if their defense picks up where they left off against New England.
