The Buffalo Bills are winners in Week 6 with a close divisional 23-20 victory over the New York Jets, bumping them up to 4-2 on the season. After losing back-to-back games, the Bills needed to find a way to win under the lights and show the NFL that they can bounce back from an awful outing.
In a back-and-forth game, the Bills held on until the end and managed to slow down Aaron Rodgers and the Jets offense in the second half with holding them to just three points. This came right after Rodgers launched a hail mary pass at the end of the first half that was caught by wideout Allen Lazard to bring the Jets within three points of the Bills going into halftime.
However, after countless penalties and many scares, the Bills will leave New Jersey with the win and stay in control of the AFC East, for now. With this win, the Bills win yet another division game, bringing their division record to 21-5 since 2020 which is the best within the NFL, according to the Buffalo Bills PR X account.
Buffalo Bills prove that the AFC East runs through them until proven otherwise
From the moment that Tom Brady left the New England Patriots in 2020, the AFC East has been Buffalo’s to lose. The Jets have given the Bills arguably the toughest time in division games, but the Bills seem to always edge them out and get close victories. With the Patriots, they have had ridiculous wins where Buffalo just didn’t show up at all to play and looked completely lost. Then there are the Dolphins, who have only beaten the Bills twice since Josh Allen was drafted in 2018.
Through six weeks of this season, the Bills find themselves ahead of the rest of the division. They have already squashed the Dolphins in Week 2, and now they add on another division win. Their next division matchup will be against the Dolphins on Sunday, November 3rd. Then they will wait until December to play the Patriots twice and the Jets one more time.
By defeating the Jets this week, the Bills showed the division that the Jets could have been there one kryptonite and keep them from winning the division for a fifth consecutive season. However, they failed to do so and the Bills are building momentum to keep on winning to clinch the AFC East within the next two months.
