The one position for the Buffalo Bills that has been pinned as the weakest point on the roster is safety. It seems like without Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer in the secondary, analysts and fans are saying that Buffalo’s safety room is going to be a liability.
Sure, maybe there is an argument as the secondary was liable in some games. However, it’s not the weak link despite not having the biggest names. One player that impressed under the shadows of Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer was Taylor Rapp, who the Bills signed in 2023 to a one-year deal and then extended him to a three-year deal in 2024.
Taylor had a solid first year as a starter in Buffalo with 82 total tackles, 2 interceptions, and 6 pass deflections. Even though the Bills are hoping that Cole Bishop can become the long-term answer at safety, Rapp is the best one on the team.
Taylor Rapp making big plays at Bills training camp when no one is looking
I know it’s early on in training camp but seeing great plays being made is a great sign for what could come in the regular season and the playoffs. According to Jay Skurski, Rapp made not one, not two, but three interceptions during the Bills practice up at St. John Fisher.
Taylor Rapp has three interceptions today for the defense. He’s having a nice practice.

With a lot of new faces on defense coming, it’s great to see that Rapp is having a strong camp so far and that he can provide continuity from last season.
Rapp should be the team’s No. 1 safety heading into the season and the Bills will need a big season out of him to make sure that the secondary doesn’t become a liability. With a revamp in the secondary, we could very well see Rapp playing a little bit more of a versatile role rather than just at safety.
