Prior to the 2020 season, the Buffalo Bills had to live in an era where the New England Patriots were always the team that were in control of the AFC East. From 2001 until 2019, the Patriots won the division 17 times. There were only two seasons where they didn’t finish in first place. The only reason why they didn’t win the division in 2008 was because Tom Brady tore his ACL early on in the season.
Once Brady left the Patriots and signed with Tampa Bay, it was finally Buffalo’s time to take the division. Josh Allen was going into his third season and showing a lot of promise as a franchise quarterback, and the Bills had traded for wide receiver Stefon Diggs who eventually elevated Buffalo’s offense into a powerhouse.
Since the 2020 season, the division has belonged to the Bills and there is no reason why Buffalo can’t go on a similar run like New England did before. We have watched the Bills win the division early on, as well as steal it away from the Miami Dolphins in the 2023 season.
Going into last season, the Bills were written off because of the talent they lost in the offseason. The entire time leading up to Week 1, people were debating on whether it was going to be the Jets or the Dolphins that takes the division. Well, clearly that didn’t work out as the Bills took the AFC East in a Week 13 win, before they played the Patriots even once.
Latest 2025 AFC East prediction has Bills taking control with with no issue
Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone recently predicted the final standings in the AFC East by the time the regular season comes to an end. Bedinger’s predictions shows that the Bills will win the AFC East with no issue at all.
Team | Record |
---|---|
Buffalo Bills | 14-3 |
New England Patriots | 9-8 |
Miami Dolphins | 9-8 |
New York Jets | 5-12 |
"This Buffalo team is going to make winning regular season games look relatively easy. They will put up huge numbers yet again and will likely be one of the top two seeds in the AFC. But can they get past Kansas City in the postseason?"Sayre Bedinger, NFL Spin Zone
With this prediction, not only would the Bills get a 14-win season for the first time in franchise history, but they would easily get their sixth consecutive division title by five games. Even though the Patriots will be better, they still have a long way to go if they want to take down Josh Allen.
At the end of the day, just like Bedinger said, the Bills’ biggest focus will be on getting far in the playoffs and finding a way to get past the Chiefs (if they meet up in the playoffs).
