Bills offensive line will determine a win or loss for Buffalo in Week 6 vs. NY Jets
By Brandon Ray
The Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets Week 6 showdown will feature the start of a new era for the Jets. In a shocking turn of events, the Jets opted to fire head coach Robert Saleh early Tuesday morning and have promoted defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich as the interim head coach. After a shaky 2-3 start, the Jets decided to go in a different direction.
Now the Jets will get ready to host the Bills in MetLife Stadium on Monday Night Football and there is just this strange feeling that things could go very wrong for the Bills. However, it could also give the Bills a massive advantage if the Jets players don’t respond well to this transition.
Even though there is a lot up in the air right now for the Jets, one thing that we can all say is that their defense is no joke. Their pass defense is elite and their run defense is solid. They have allowed no more than 221 passing yards in a game, including no more than 61 passing yards in two games.
One of their more dominant units on defense is the defensive line. Edge rusher Will McDonald currently leads the Jets with 6 sacks and they have 18 total sacks in five games.
The Buffalo Bills could be in trouble if the offensive line struggles
Heading into Week 6, the Bills’ offensive line is going to be the x-factor. The game is going to come down on their shoulders. If they get rolled over by this Jets defense, the Bills will be on their way to losing their third consecutive game.
Josh Allen has only been sacked six times through five games, making him one of the most protected quarterbacks in the league. However, Allen has had some rough games against the Jets in his career.
He’s been sacked 25 times by the Jets and has passed for over 300+ yards in just three games. The Jets are a team that is built to beat a team like the Bills. If Ulbrich can take control of the locker room and start the turnaround for the Jets this Monday night, Buffalo is in trouble.
Bills offensive line Aaron Kromer will have his hands full against the Jets’ defensive line. If they can hold their ground and keep the pressure off of Allen, the Bills will have a great chance to leave MetLife with a win.
