Things look pretty good for the Bills right now.
They're on a seven-game win streak, already have wrapped up the AFC East division title, and looked awfully impressive against the Chiefs in their Week 12 win. They're also only one Kansas City loss from getting home field advantage through the playoffs, which certainly wouldn't hurt.

But the good news doesn't stop there! (Wouldn't it be kinda funny if it did, though?) On Wednesday, the team announced that they were signing former Bills captain and fan favorite Micah Hyde to the practice squad. The team published a press release on Wednesday, mentioning that, "Hyde, a two-time All-Pro selection, has been one of the best safeties in franchise history during his seven-year tenure in Buffalo. From 2017-2023, Hyde started 95 games with the Bills, racking up 347 tackles and 16 INTs."
Micah Hyde is back in Buffalo, even though it's just on the Bills' practice squad
"Micah Hyde has returned to the team in a practice squad role," McDermott told reporters on Wednesday. "And just to set expectations – Micah is in a practice squad role. We are fully confident in Taylor Rapp, Damar Hamlin, Cole Bishop, and Kareem Jackson. All been doing a real good job for us in the roles they're currently in. They're going to stay in those roles. And Micah is in a practice squad role. So good to have him back, and his family as well."
Hyde brings plenty to the team just as a veteran voice and locker room leader, but I imagine the Bills could have just brought him in to give a pre-game speech if they didn't think he could help on the field. It's not uncommon to see guys spend a few weeks on the practice squad – especially this time of year – before getting promoted to the active roster just in time for the playoffs. That feels like it might be the case here, though the Bills obviously wouldn't admit that one way or the other.
At the very least, it's a fun, late-season story. At the very best, he'll pick off Patrick Mahomes in the final seconds of the AFC Championship game to finally get the Bills over the hump and into the Super Bowl. There's probably no in-between.
