One of the biggest roster battles that the Buffalo Bills had to figure out was the last wide receiver spot heading into the regular season. You have your locks with Keon Coleman, Joshua Palmer, and Khalil Shakir.
Then you could make the argument for Curtis Samuel (contract) and Elijah Moore (versatility) to make the roster. If the Bills do decide to bring on six receivers, they gained their answer in last night’s preseason finale.
Wideout Tyrell Shavers, who arguably should have been on the roster last year, should definitely have a spot after his performance this offseason and it was proven once against the Bucs. In last night’s game, Shavers had two catches for 24 yards that included a one-handed touchdown grab.

Tyrell Shavers has earned roster spot after WR6 battle
As the preseason started, there was a battle to keep an eye on between Tyrell Shavers, Laviska Shenault, and Kaden Prather of who could be the final receiver on the roster. Prather was waived this past week and Shenault hasn’t made any noise in the preseason. As for Shavers, he has shown that he can separate and can make some tough catches.
If Shavers for some reason doesn’t get a roster spot, there will be a team that picks him up for the regular season. He has rightfully earned a roster spot and deserves a chance to show what he can do in a meaningful game.
Maybe he won’t be a starter. Maybe all he will do is play on special teams, a majority of the time, which is completely fine. However, he has earned the chance to rotate in at receiver and step up should a starter go down at any point.
Buffalo has to have their roster cut down to the final 53 by this Tuesday at 4pm and fans will be mad if Shavers doesn’t get a roster spot. Again, if he doesn’t get a spot with the Bills, he will get it with another team.
