By 6PM EST today, all NFL teams will need to have their final-53 man rosters solidified as the regular season approaches here in less than two weeks. The Buffalo Bills had announced 13 releasings on Saturday as their first round of cuts. Some of those players included Mecole Hardman Jr., Dante Pettis, Bruno Fina, and Zion Logue.
Tom Pelissero also announced on Saturday that the Bills were planning to release punter Mitch Wishnowsky, giving rookie Tommy Doman Jr. the starting job going into his first pro season. The Bills have now made another move that involves a backup offensive lineman.
According to Tom Pelissero, the Bills are trading backup center Sedrick Van Pran-Granger to the Indianapolis Colts. Buffalo is trading Pran-Granger and a 2027 7th-round pick and the Colts are trading a 2027 6th-round pick, per Pelissero.

Bills make Sedrick Van Pran-Granger move that fans may have expected
When the Bills signed veteran center Lloyd Cushenberry in free agency, that put Pran-Granger on the roster bubble. Prior to free agency, the Bills were looking at Pran-Granger as the potential starting center as Connor McGovern was set to hit the open market. However, McGovern and the Bills agreed to terms on a four-year extension, keeping him as the anchor of the offensive line.
This meant that Pran-Granger would most likely never be a starter with the Bills, barring an injury to McGovern. Then once Cushenberry signed with the Bills, that's when things took a turn for Pran-Granger, and now he is no longer a member of the Bills.
The Bills drafted Pran-Granger in the 5th round back in 2024 out of Georgia, and he was a phenomenal pass blocker with the Bulldogs. However, the Bills still made the choice to move McGovern from guard to center and the rest was history. It was a good problem for the Bills, and they managed to get some trade value back from the Colts.
Trade value for Bills is as best as it will get for Pran-Granger
So, despite Pran-Granger having two years left on his rookie deal, they are going with Cushenberry as the backup to McGovern. Since the Bills gained a 2027 7th-round pick from the Las Vegas Raiders in the 4th round of this year’s NFL Draft, they are still set to pick in that round next year and now they gain an extra 6th rounder.
To pull off a trade involving a player that was going to be the third string center is a great move by Brandon Beane. It’s a win-win for both the Bills and the Colts. Indianapolis gets more interior offensive line help for a cheap price, and the Bills get value back for a player that most likely would not have played a single meaningful snap this season.
