With the NFL Draft just over two weeks away, some major news has hit the NFL world. According to Adam Schefter, New York Giants' star defensive lineman Dexter Lawrence has reportedly requested a trade and will not be participating in the Giants' offseason workout program that opens tomorrow.
Schefter reported that the Giants and Lawrence have been attempted to negotiate a contract the last two offseasons, but nothing has come about it and now Lawrence is looking to want out of the Giants.

With the news coming about right before the draft, if the Giants are willing to listen to offers for Lawrence, the Buffalo Bills should be highly interested in seeing what it would take to land Lawrence in Western New York. Lawrence is by far one of the best defensive players in the league and he is still well in his prime. In addition, if the Bills were able to pull off a major trade to acquire Lawrence, they would be able to fix a major problem that Buffalo had last season.
Bills can immediately fix major 2026 problem by trading for Dexter Lawrence
We all know that the Bills had a horrific run-defense in 2025, giving up over 136 yards per game. They couldn’t stop the run and teams knew it. Despite the Bills trading up in last year’s draft for T.J. Sanders and Deone Walker, as well as bringing in veteran players in the trenches, the Bills’ run-defense was horrible.
With the Bills being in a Super Bowl window right now even with a new head coach in Joe Brady, this would be a move that signals going all-in. Lawrence is a fantastic disrupter in the trenches and he would easily be the best player on the defense by a mile.Â
He doesn’t just excel at stopping the run, he creates great interior pressure up the middle. While Ed Oliver can do that himself, Lawrence is miles ahead of him in production.Â
Lawrence has 341 career total tackles and 30.5 sacks. For a true interior defensive lineman, that is unbelievable.
The Bills are at the point in their franchise where they should be doing whatever it takes to get over the hump and bring home their first Super Bowl in franchise history. They already have the star quarterback to light up the scoreboard. Now it’s time to bring in the game-wrecker on defense and Lawrence would certainly fill that void.
Now granted, the Bills may have to give up a nice haul for Lawrence and also give him a new contract as well. What that looks like would be very interesting but even if the Bills were to trade their first round pick this year for Lawrence, he would already be better than a prospect at No. 26 overall.
