The Buffalo Bills began their rookie minicamp last Friday in hopes of signing some of the unspoken rookie talent to their 2026 roster. One talent to keep an eye on is the son of a legendary Bills' left tackle who played in two of the Bills' four straight trips to the Super Bowl in 1992 and 1993.
Bills swing lineman Bruno Fina is the son of John Fina, who was the No. 27 pick in the first round of the 1992 NFL Draft. John spent 10 of his 11 years (1992-2001) playing for the Bills, and spent his one and final year in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals in 2002. Now his son will be looking to make the roster that his father was on for a majority of his career.
Bills have promising UDFA swing tackle looking to make roster spot
When Fina's first practice was over, he spoke with Matt Parrino of Syracuse.com at minicamp. While being interviewed, Fina told Parrino that he doesn't feel like, at any point, being on the Bills, just like his father, "will ever hit me." said Fina.
Coolest story of Bills rookie camp? Undrafted offensive lineman Bruno Fina setting out on his journey to try to make the team his dad played for back in the 90s.

What did @JohnFina tell him?
“Do the little things right. Go make that team!” pic.twitter.com/eMkf9ouv9P
"I'm trying to live in the moment as much as possible," he said to Parrino. "Just do things I can right now." He included, "I think it's the same thing that I was doing in college. It's just trying to get a little bit better every day. I started from one place and ended up in another [in college]. Today is Day 1 of starting in one place, and I'm not planning on ending in the same place. So it's one day at a time. Just do all the little things right."
While John started in 131 out of 155 games in his career and was part of two Super Bowl teams, Bruno will definitely have a tall order to follow in his father's footsteps.
Bruno's beginnings
Bruno had a successful collegiate journey playing for two schools. He played for three years with the UCLA Bruins and two with the Duke Blue Devils.
The talented athlete played in 45 career games, starting in 38. In 2025, while at Duke, Bruno started all 14 of his games at left tackle. He does have some versatility on the line, as he also played center at UCLA.
He was able to team up with his little brother, Roman, who is also an offensive lineman. Two of the boys are successful football players, as their dad, John, is also in the University of Arizona Hall of Fame.
Bruno's team of choice
Bruno thought there was no other team he could have a chance to join than the Buffalo Bills. "The best part, I think, is my dad had so many close friends here and my family, like my grandfather, before he moved to [Arizona], is from Rochester," Fina shared. "So I got friends, I got family, I got people I can go have a home-cooked meal with. So it feels like family away from family."
If there is one thing those Fina men are, it is talented. It is becoming successful in football and in life, and being raised in a beautiful family in Tucson, Arizona. If Bruno can follow the footsteps of his father, he might just find a spot on the Bills' roster.
