There are a good amount of connections between the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars, both currently and from the past. However, one factor that is being overlooked is the potential impact that wide receiver Gabe Davis could have against the team that had given him a 3 year, $39 million before the 2024 season.
Davis spent his first four seasons with the Bills, where he had some of his best performances which included an 8 catch-201 yards-4 touchdown performance game against the Chiefs in the 2022 playoffs. After the 2023 season, the Bills let Davis walk and went back to his home state in Florida to sign with the Jaguars.
In just ten games with Jacksonville, Davis only had 239 yards and 2 touchdowns before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
With Jacksonville starting over with general manager James Gladstone, the team went through a ton of changes which included the release of many players including Davis. After getting his first big NFL contract just a year prior, Davis was a free agent once again.
Davis is now back in Buffalo, making his season debut in Week 11 and having played in just six games this season. Heading into the playoffs, fans should be hoping that not only does Davis suit up but that he becomes a big part of the offense as well.
Heading into this weekend, the Bills have the chance to make Jacksonville pay the price for releasing Davis this past offseason.
Gabe Davis returns to Jacksonville for revenge game in Wild Card round
One of Davis’ best strengths as a player is his ability to block on the outside. Part of the reason why the Bills have the best rushing attack in the NFL is because of everyone chipping in and finding someone to block down field. Davis brings that trait and that could just be one factor to his game against Jacksonville.
At some point, Buffalo is going to have to throw the ball. Joe Brady has the chance to utilize Davis in a big role against the team that only gave him one season.
Whether it’s in the redzone or even down the field where we see Josh Allen fire the ball, Davis having a revenge game against the Jaguars would be a great sighting for Bills fans.
