Training camp kicked off for the Buffalo Bills yesterday and it was the first true to start to the new era that the Bills have placed themselves in. The changes have brought curiosity and nerves to fans, but the Bills needed to change something up.
Despite the massive changes that were made, atleast the offensive side of the ball has a good amount of continuity with Joe Brady still calling the plays despite being the head coach. As for the defense, that is where a lot of changes have happened and it’s pretty much brand new (for a good reason).
When it was learned that the Bills were switching to a 3-4 defensive scheme under Jim Leonhard, that’s when fans were expecting major changes. Whether it was releasing, trading, or letting players walk in free agency, changes were bound to happen.
At the same time, the Bills shouldn't be afraid to have some continuity on that side of the ball, specifically involving players who know what it's like in Buffalo and can help be part of the turnaround of the defense. Since the NFL Draft, general manager Brandon Beane has talked about one specific player that has been in the building and it feels like that it's just a matter of time before there is another reunion.
Bills need to stop waiting and just sign Tre'Davious White already
Beane spoke with the media on the first day of training camp, and he once again brought up how the Bills “constantly keep in contact with guys like Tre” meaning cornerback Tre’Davious White, per Matthew Bove.

Prior to this year’s NFL Draft, Beane spoke about White and “how you never close the door on bringing a guy like that back to Buffalo”, per Matthew Bove. That was back in April, and now, in July, Beane is once again talking about White in a positive manner. It truly does feel like it's just a matter of time before White comes back to Buffalo for another stint. Then again, not is official until it actually happens.
White re-joined the Bills for his second stint last offseason after spending the 2024 season with the Los Angeles Rams, and was then traded to the Baltimore Ravens. Prior to that, White was with the Bills from 2017-2023 in which he established himself as one of the best corners in the game up until a torn ACL in 2021.
Last season, there were times when White looked like the best corner on the Bills, even ahead of Christian Benford. As the season progressed, White was more valuable in coverage and his run-support was above average as well.
The Bills signed Dee Alford in free agency as the Taron Johnson replacement, and then drafted Davison Igbinosun and Toriano Pride Jr. in the draft. While they added more depth, adding White would give them another veteran presence who already knows Buffalo, and knows what it’s like to have high expectations. Bringing in White for atleast one more year makes too much sense.
