Bills had private visit with underrated defensive tackle with fullback potential

Could the Bills have the modern-day William "The Refrigerator" Perry with this surprisingly talented defensive tackle?

With the 2026 NFL Draft just around the corner, there is still plenty of time for the Buffalo Bills to find their next defensive tackle for their new multiple 3-4 defensive scheme. The team is looking for someone who can help Ed Oliver and Deone Walker stop running backs in their tracks.

They are also looking for a big-bodied type player who can help pressure and sack opposing quarterbacks.

Bills meet with standout defensive tackle who didn't make NFL Combine

The Bills had a private workout session on March 27th with Navy's Landon Robinson, per OnSI's Arye Pulli. He fits exactly what the team is looking for as their next 3-4 defensive lineman.

Snubbed from NFL Combine

Even with producing 6.5 sacks, 64 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, a fumble recovery, and receiving First Team All-American honors, Robinson was snubbed from the NFL Combine.

Robinson stands at 6-foot, 290 pounds and played in 13 games while tallying 34 pressures. He showcased his leadership skills by serving as a two-time captain at Navy. His imposing locker-room appearances made him a team leader who would be a great benefit to any NFL organization.

At Navy's pro day, he showcased both his strength and quickness for his size. He ran a 4.87-second 40-yard dash and jumped high at 32.5 inches, with cannon legs evidenced by squatting a high of 665 lbs and bench-pressing 30 reps (which would have tied for fifth place among all players at the Combine).

What Robinson could bring as fullback

The American Conference's Defensive Player of the Year shone on and off the field. Last season, the team used him as a fullback and recorded 87 rushing yards on three converted fake punts.

Robinson's breakout moment came in the 2024 Army-Navy matchup, where he made 13 tackles and rushed for a first down on a 29-yard fake punt.

He even ran fullback drills at his Pro Day, catching passes.

Help with "Tush Push"

Because of his size and strong legs, Robinson would be the ideal Reggie Gilliam replacement, using his low center of gravity to help superstar quarterback Josh Allen with his famous "Tush Push" quarterback sneak.

Besides that, the talented defensive tackle is also effective on special teams, which you need to be in a Joe Brady-coached squad. With Robinson's 33-inch vertical jump and farmer's strength, he can also push back on field-goal tries.

Robinson can also cover kickoffs; in his first few collegiate years, he made history as the only FBS nose guard to serve on the kickoff coverage team. He showed off his talents and speed that any NFL coach would be happy to welcome to their special teams roster.

Robinson compares to William, "The Refrigerator," Perry, formerly of the Chicago Bears, and is projected to be a "Day 3" pick with a stock that is steadily climbing.
