The Buffalo Bills will be entering a new era with their brand-new Highmark Stadium opening for the 2026 NFL season. But their tight end, Dawson Knox, wants to keep a tradition from the old venue alive.
He, along with Bills fans, wants to keep hearing and singing to the 2004 hit, "Mr. Brightside" by the Killers at the beginning of the fourth quarter. With roughly 70,000 Bills fans in attendance, it gets very loud and cheerful hearing the fans support their team.
Dawson Knox speaks on traditional song
The duel-threat tight end was interviewed by Centered on Buffalo by former Bills center Eric Wood.
When questioned about the continued use of the song at the new stadium, Knox was insistent on keeping it and would not be happy if it wasn't played there.

When mic'd up during a previous Bills home game, both Knox and Dalton Kincaid were listening, singing, while dancing and loving it when fans sang every lyric and kept on singing even after the music stopped. It is such a great tradition that should be passed on to the new stadium.
How it all started
The Bills started the "Mr. Brightside" tradition in a December 2023 home contest against the Dallas Cowboys.
In the fourth quarter of his Utah football games, they would play "Mr. Brightside", creating a memorable moment for their fans. The Bills never had a traditional 4th quarter song at that time. But when Kincaid was on the sideline stating, "I wish they could play 'Mr. Brightside' right now," his request was heard by the Bills' Director of Game Presentation, Brian Haberkorn.
Haberkorn and the team's content and creative staff produced a lyric video that began with Kincaid's plea, taken from Knox's mic'd-up video, to be shown at the stadium. While the fans enjoyed it, the players were invigorated as well.
Dawson Knox's Wedding
Dawson Knox married his wife, Alexandra Seefeldt, on June 30, 2024. They were married in Nashville, Tennessee, not far from his home. There were many Bills players in attendance.
With all the positives of bringing "Mr. Brightside" to the new Highmark Stadium this upcoming season, a funny video was posted of some Bills players singing and dancing to the song. However, it almost didn't take place.
Mrs. Knox (Dawson's new wife) stated that she didn't want "Mr. Brightside" played as she believed that the song was overused.
But she gave in, and the song was played as the very last song of the night. Everyone was there to enjoy it, and they captured some good video footage, as per the NFL.
Let's hope the tradition continues and both Kincaid and Knox get their wish of bringing Mr. Brightside to the new Bills' Highmark Stadium.
