If there was one team that a lot of fans across the NFL weren’t expecting to change a ton this past offseason, it was the Buffalo Bills. Two days after their Divisional Round exiting loss to the Denver Broncos last season, owner Terry Pegula made the decision to fire Sean McDermott after nine seasons as the head coach of the team.
It was the start of many changes that were coming to Buffalo, but one change that a lot of people were not so happy about involved general manager Brandon Beane. Since the Bills' roster has not always been the best to support Josh Allen, Beane has taken on a lot of heat the last two seasons.
However, not only did Beane keep his job, he was also promoted to President of Football Operations where he now oversees the coaching staff. A lot of people believed that this was the wrong move by the Bills, but there is no denying that Beane and his staff made some changes to the roster that did upgrade it.
At the same time, Beane will now be heavily watched by fans and if things start to go wrong, people are going to get furious.
Brandon Beane now faces more pressure heading into 2026
Even though Beane just got a promotion, Douglas Clawson from CBS Sports is predicting a wild and very bold move for the Bills this season. Clawson made one bold prediction for each team going into this season, and when it comes to the Bills, it has nothing to do with the roster or even the new head coach in Joe Brady. It has to deal with Beane himself, as Clawson is predicting that Beane will be fired this season by the Bills.
"No, I'm not picking the Bills to win the Super Bowl. As much as I want that to happen, I think Buffalo will succumb to the pressure and fire GM Brandon Beane after a mediocre start. They stuck with him after parting ways with Sean McDermott but he didn't do enough to fill needs at wide receiver (DJ Moore) or edge rusher (Bradley Chubb) this offseason, which will ultimately cost him his job." said Clawson.
This seems like a highly unlikely scenario, especially considering the fact that Beane got his new promotion and was given the lead to searching for a new head coach and revamping the roster. However, when it comes to the NFL, you can never say never.
Beane went to work this offseason with the coaching staff changes with Brady, and he brought in a lot of new faces to bring a new look to this team. Now that this is a new era, this could give Beane the opportunity to do things that maybe he couldn't before. Only time will tell as the season goes on.
