When the Buffalo Bills selected UConn wide receiver Skyler Bell in the 4th round of this year’s NFL Draft, there was a lot of excitement amongst Bills Mafia. Maybe it’s because the Bills selected a receiver to add to the room, or maybe it was because of what kind of receiver Bell has shown to be. Either way, there were a lot of happy emotions when the Bills drafted him.
He can play inside and outside, and fans had been looking for more versatility from the wide receiver room the last couple of seasons. While fans were excited to see what he could do in training camp and the whole preseason, fans had to wait as he was dealing with an injury that kept him out until Thursday night’s preseason finale against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Luckily the patience paid off as Bell shined against the Steelers and he helped the Bills in their comeback win over Pittsburgh, giving fans a lot more excitement for what could come from him moving forward.

First off, Bell wasn’t on the field with any of the Bills’ true starters which may have helped him stand out because of the talent he has. Shane Buechele was the one throwing him the ball, who should very much end up on the practice squad. However, Buechele threw 10 passes to Bell in which they were able to connect 7 times for 49 yards.
Bell was able to create separation from defenders, giving him a little bit of room to work with once the ball was in his hands. In addition, Bell was also the Bills’ leading rusher with 28 yards on a jet sweep play that he took to the house to bring the Bills within one score in the third quarter. Him getting into the endzone was a real confidence booster for him and he shouldn't just make the roster, but he should get some valuable playing time.

I know that this could be very bold, but it’s not unreasonable to think this either. Bell is coming off a season at UConn where he had 1,278 yards and 13 touchdowns. Now he joins an offense that doesn’t just have Josh Allen throwing the ball, but a head coach in Joe Brady that likes to get everyone involved on the offense.
Even with DJ Moore coming in as the new No. 1 receiver and Khalil Shakir being a solid slot receiver, Bell should have plenty of opportunities to show the NFL why he is a major steal from this year's draft and be part of the new-look Bills that is looking to get over the hump and win a Super Bowl.
