After a comeback win against the Baltimore Ravens last week, the Buffalo Bills made a tough statement win by taking down the New York Jets, 30-10. Buffalo now moves to 2-0 and keeps their hold on the AFC East at 2-0 going into a short week for Week 3.
Right from the start, the Jets stood no chance and it was all Bills four four quarters. However, the biggest storyline coming out of this game was the defense for Buffalo. When you compare what they went through in Week 1 to now, it was a complete turnaround for the better.
Bills defense shines in Week 2 win against Jets (and they needed to)
After allowing Derrick Henry and Lamar Jackson to run all over them, Buffalo’s defense learned their lesson and they came prepared for Justin Fields and Breece Hall. The Jets had 100 total rushing yards and just 54 yards through the air. Buffalo had four sacks, including one from Joey Bosa which was his first one as a Bill.
Despite not having players like Ed Oliver and Taron Johnson, it didn’t seem to matter. Either the Bills came very well prepared, or the Jets offense was not ready to go and now they drop to 0-2 while the Bills are celebrating at 2-0.
Now granted, the duo of Fields and Hall is not as scary as Jackson and Henry, but this performance by the defense reassures that Buffalo can dominate and be the difference maker. While we know that Josh Allen can carry this team to victory, that shouldn’t be the case every week.
Buffalo’s defense did their part and now they are in control of the AFC East going into a Thursday night matchup against the Miami Dolphins. Enjoy this win, Bills Mafia. It's a short week going into Week 3 against yet another division rival.
