Bills fans are feeling great this morning after watching Buffalo take down the Kansas City Chiefs at home, winning 28-21. While the score looked close, this game didn’t really feel close at all and that should be very encouraging for the Bills.
The Bills moved up to 6-2 to stay in a close race with the New England Patriots in the AFC East, while the Chiefs dropped to 5-4 and are in quite the predicament to keep pace in the AFC West, let alone the rest of the conference.
This game was an exciting one to prepare for based on the quarterback matchup. However, it was the Bills’ defense that was going to potentially face a huge challenge of slowing down this Chiefs offense that has been on a roll as of late. To some surprise, Buffalo’s defense showed up big time against the Chiefs and embarrassed them overall.
Specifically, the defense embarrassed Patrick Mahomes by pressuring him and making him look lost for most of the game. He was hit 15 times and sacked 3 times for a loss. However, that wasn’t the worst of it from him.
Bills' defense made Patrick Mahomes look silly in Week 9
According to ESPN Insights on X, while Allen recorded his highest completion percentage of his career (88.5%), Mahomes completed the lowest of his career (44.1%).

Even with Buffalo facing a great amount of injuries on the defense that included missing Ed Oliver, Taron Johnson, T.J. Sanders, and eventually losing Michael Hoecht (now to a torn achilles), the defense still found a way to keep Mahomes off his game and not get anything going.
Fans should also be seriously happy with the performance of young players like Cole Bishop and Maxwell Hairston. Both of them stepped up in big ways for the secondary and showed that they can be long-term starters for this defense. Bishop had himself a huge day with a career-high with 3 pass breakups, per the Bills’ PR X account.
The defense has been criticized this entire season, and rightfully so. But now, the Bills really showed up at the perfect time and found a way to make the Chiefs look nearly unwatchable in Week 9.
