In last year’s NFL Draft, the Buffalo Bills saw one of their division rivals acquire one of the most underrated prospects coming out of college. In the second round, the New England Patriots drafted running back TreVeyon Henderson out of Ohio State, which gave them a boost in their backfield.

Even though James Cook is a top running back in this league, Henderson showed off what he can bring to the table in his rookie season. Even though the Patriots already had Rhamondre Stevenson in the backfield, Henderson got his chance to prove that he could be one of the most dangerous backs in the league.

Rushing for 911 yards and 9 touchdowns, while also adding on 221 receiving yards and a score, Henderson is a solid option for the Patriots which should have Bills fans a little concerned.

Henderson had two games of 145+ yard performances to go with two scores last season, one them being against the Bills in Week 15 where he had 148 yards on the ground with 2 touchdowns, averaging over 10 yards a carry. Buffalo’s run-defense was a disaster last season, so seeing Henderson have this kind of success was unfortunately not surprising.

When the Bills take on the Patriots twice a season for the foreseeable future, they will have to deal with Henderson who could continue to be a problem for the Bills.

TreVeyon Henderson set up to be major problem against Bills' defense

Jared Dubin from CBS Sports listed a very simple question for Henderson that Bills fans better be hoping that Henderson doesn’t respond correctly; “Can TreVeyon Henderson be the cow-bell back?

"Heading into Year 2 as the more explosive player, Henderson needs to show that he can hold up as a pass protector so that he can get on the field more often, rack up more carries and hopefully, more explosive runs." said Dubin.

Now that Henderson has a year of experience under his belt with Josh McDaniels as his offensive coordinator, the Patriots are hoping that he can be that explosive playmaker who can make defenses pay. With the Bills and Patriots set to fight for the AFC East for the next 5+ years with both teams having franchise quarterbacks, the other playmakers on the teams are going to need to step up.

When it comes to facing Henderson, the Bills’ new defensive scheme could benefit when facing him or hurt them even more. Either way, Buffalo has to vastly improve their run-defense overall, but especially against Henderson who has already given a glimpse on what he can do against the Bills.
