The Buffalo Bills have addressed a ton of concerns on their roster this offseason. Fans should be feeling confident when you compare what the roster was before free agency, and now what it’s like after the NFL Draft. The roster isn't perfect, but it's in a much better spot.

The defense needed to be revamped, check. The offense still needed a proven No. 1 wide receiver, DJ Moore fixes that. Overall, Bills fans should be very happy with where Buffalo is currently at with their roster.

For the past two seasons, the Bills have faced heavy criticism for not addressing the wide receiver position in a serious matter. That is no longer an issue with the arrival of Moore and Skyler Bell. It’s great to see that when Buffalo’s roster gets talked about what weaknesses they have, wide receiver is no longer mentioned.

However, Sayre Bedinger from NFL Spin Zone pointed a roster weakness that the Bills currently have, and it's not a position that fans saw coming.

Bills fans see listed roster weakness that feels unexpected

Bedinger listed each current roster weakness that AFC East teams have, and punt returner was listed for the Bills. Pass rush was listed for the Patriots, quarterback was listed for the Jets, and wide receiver was listed for the Dolphins. So in all reality, the Bills have the least concerning weakness out of all the AFC East teams.

"It feels like a stretch, but the one area of the Bills' roster that truly hasn't been addressed is punt returner. They had the 3rd-worst punt return average in the NFL last season (6.47 yards per return). For a Super Bowl-caliber team like the Bills, the return game can't be an area of weakness." said Bedinger.

The two main punt returners for the Bills last season were Khalil Shakir and Brandon Codrington. Mecole Hardman Jr. and Keon Coleman also had a couple of returns as well. Overall, Shakir led the team in punt return yards with just 124 yards. That is very concerning.

Not just the stats itself, but the fact that Buffalo had their starting slot receiver as their kick returner. That needs to change going into the 2026 season. There should very well be competition during training camp for this position, and fans do not want to miss how it could develop leading into the season.
