Earlier this month, the Green Bay Packers released cornerback Jaire Alexander after failing to find a trade partner that would take on his contract. Once the news of Alexander being released went public, it was later revealed by NFL Insider Jordan Schultz that the Packers and Bills had trade talks surrounding Alexander. However, the talks fell through and the Bills moved on to draft three cornerbacks in the NFL Draft.

With the Packers releasing Alexander, this would have given the Bills an opportunity to sign him and not give up any draft picks, which is what Buffalo was going to do anyways if the two sides had come to an agreement. However, that won’t be the case now as it was reported by the Ravens that they have signed Alexander. According to Adam Schefter, the Ravens signed Alexander to a one-year deal worth $6 million.

Bills will face off against CB Jaire Alexander in Week 1

The Ravens will visit the Bills in Week 1 on Sunday Night Football and now Alexander will be someone that Josh Allen can embarrass in Baltimore’s secondary. Don’t get me wrong, Alexander was the best corner at one point in his career. However, he has missed so much action the last two seasons and the Ravens are taking on that risk.

At one point, the Ravens had one of the worst secondaries in the league and while Alexander could be a big payoff for them, it’s more of a risk if he is a starter for them. In the last two seasons, Alexander has played in just 14 regular season games due to injury. However, he still has a little bit of value at this point in his career and maybe Baltimore is the perfect landing spot in the long run.

The only issue for Alexander is that his first test is trying to stop the league’s reigning MVP who loves to throw the ball around to everyone. So, there might be a chance that no matter where Alexander is lining up, the ball might be coming his way and Allen has connected well with his receivers.

Instead of signing with the Bills, Alexander is opting to go against them in Week 1 and it could be a long night for him if Allen and the offense picks up where they left off last season.
