The Buffalo Bills began their rookie minicamp today and it features the players that were drafted by the Bills, and who signed as an undrafted free agent. The Bills went heavy on defense, using six of their nine draft picks on both the defensive line and in the secondary. Brandon Beane wasn’t messing around and now the Bills are locked and loaded for 2025 and beyond on defense.
Not to mention, Beane also did a lot of work in free agency with the acquisitions of Joey Bosa, Larry Ogunjobi, and Michael Hoecht. For rookie minicamp alone, the Bills have nine total defensive linemen participating in it and they just acquired another defensive tackle off of waivers to add to the roster.
Bills claim defensive tackle Casey Rogers off of waivers
It was announced today via the Bills PR X account that Buffalo claimed Rogers, who was recently let go by the New York Giants.
Rodgers went undrafted in the 2024 NFL Draft and was signed by the Giants as an undrafted free agent, having spent most of the 2024 season on the practice squad. Late last season, he was promoted to the active roster and managed to utilize that opportunity by blocking a field goal kick attempt against the New Orleans Saints.
Prior to entering the NFL, Rogers played at both Nebraska and Oregon. Before that, he played at Westhill High School located in Syracuse, New York so he knows how to play in the cold weather. Rogers is joining the Bills as depth and is a longshot to make the final roster. With what the Bills did in the offseason in the trenches, it would be an absolute shock if Rogers makes the final 53-man roster.
However, the Bills typically don’t make moves like this so they must see something with Rogers. Whether it’s an extra depth move or something more, Rogers is more competition that the Bills can evaluate this summer. He’s young, has NFL experience already, and is coming into a group where there are other young players looking to prove themselves.
