Buffalo Bills fans had the chance to witness something that doesn’t happen a ton. They got to watch the Bills dominate without Josh Allen having to play Superman. In a Week 2 division matchup, the Bills dominated the New York Jets 30-10 and moved to 2-0 on the season.

This game was the definition of fantastic complimentary football. Buffalo’s offense put points on the board while the defense didn’t let up a touchdown until garbage time. The Bills put up 403 total yards while only allowing 154 yards from the Jets. All in all, this was a huge improvement from Week 1.

The best factor about this game is that Allen didn’t have to put the Bills on his back. Instead, it was James Cook who ran all over the Jets in this game, averaging over six yards per carry and finishing with 132 yards and 2 touchdowns.

Blecher Report gives well-deserved recognition to James Cook

Brent Sobleski from Bleacher Report listed Cook as the biggest winner from this matchup against the Bills and there should be no argument about it. Here’s a bit on what Sobleski said:

"After tying Derrick Henry and Jahmyr Gibbs for a league-leading 16 rushing touchdowns last season, Cook has three within the first two weeks of the campaign. He's likely to avoid a significant touchdown regression this year."
Brent Sobleski, Bleacher Report

According to the Bills' PR X account, since being drafted in 2022, Cook leads the NFL with five 40+ yard touchdown runs.

One of Cook’s touchdowns went for 44 yards where a simple run play up the middle ended up being Cook showing off his footwork and work uphill to break free into the open field and get into the endzone. It was the touchdown that really put the Bills ahead of the Jets and they never looked back.

Through just two games, Cook is showing the Bills why they made the right decision to pay him prior to the start of the season. If he can stay healthy and continue this kind of production, he should very well be on his way to establishing himself as one of the best backs in football.
