Week 1 of the NFL season is upon us and we could not be more thrilled for the start of the regular season. It seems like yesterday, we were watching the Philadelphia Eagles deliver a Super Bowl beatdown to the Kansas City Chiefs. Now, the season will kick off in Philly with the Eagles hosting the Dallas Cowboys.
While the Eagles get the spotlight of opening up the season, the Buffalo Bills have the chance to end the Sunday games at home against the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday Night Football.
Even though the primetime games will be catching the most attention, the rest of the AFC East have interesting matchups to kick off their seasons. While Bills fans will be focused on the success that Buffalo has, it’s also important to follow along with the division rivals.
All 4 AFC East teams have solid matchups for Week 1
Dolphins @ Colts, 1PM - CBS
The Dolphins, who can be argued as the worst team in the division going into Week 1, head up to Indianapolis Colts led by Daniel Jones. Much like the Dolphins, the Colts are in some hot water to have some success this season.
Out of all the matchups within the AFC East, this matchup is probably the least interesting to watch.
Raiders @ Patriots, 1PM - CBS
Las Veges makes the cross-country trip to Foxborough to take on the new-look New England Patriots. Let’s face it, the Patriots are going to be good this season. Maybe they won’t be taking the division away from the Bills, but this is a playoff team on paper.
One interesting matchup to look for is Josh McDaniels, the Raiders’ former head coach and current Patriots offensive coordinator, taking on his old team where he made a mess of them at one point. We know that McDaniels can coach an offense well. Now with a second-year quarterback in Drake Maye and new weapons for him, the Pats might become more electric on offense.
Steelers @ Jets, 1PM - CBS
Here we are, talking about Aaron Rodgers yet he’s no longer with the Jets. However, now as the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, Rodgers makes his anticipated return to MetLife to take on the Jets.
On the flip side, Jets’ quarterback Justin Fields will start off his tenure in New York taking on the Steelers who he was with last season after a rough start in Chicago. For a 1PM game, this one could be the most watched in the early afternoon.
Ravens @ Bills, 8:20PM - NBC
This is the matchup that most fans will be tuning into on Sunday night. The Bills are hosting the Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Orchard Park in a rematch from Week 4, and the divisional round last season.
The Ravens are coming in seeking revenge as they were sent home early by the Bills in the playoffs. There is no better way to kickoff the Sunday night schedule than seeing the two front-runners for the MVP award last year face off. Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson are going to make this a thrilling game.
