8 wide receivers Bills should target now that Joe Brady is head coach

With the new regime having an offensive background, now is the time to start looking ahead for some receivers to help out the team.

It's no secret that last season, Buffalo Bills GM Brandon Beane treated the wide receiver position like it was pulling teeth at the dentist. Now that the Bills have a new head coach in Joe Brady, who was promoted from offensive coordinator, they should be looking for wide receivers for quarterback Josh Allen to throw to.

With Allen's talent and a little help with the wide receiver position, there is no telling how far the team could go. Let's take a look at the talent available to the Bills management that they could target sooner rather than later.

8 wide receivers Bills should be looking at now

1. George Pickens

This would definitely be a home run if the Bills were to land the former Pittsburgh Steelers and now Dallas Cowboys receiver to pair up with Allen. Before, under Sean McDermott, the Bills may have been hesitant to make a move for a talented player with a past of bickering on the field that has led to penalties.

Pickens has matured since joining the Cowboys, and it has helped going from a defensive-minded coach like Mike Tomlin to an offensive-minded coach like Brian Schottenheimer.

But now that the Bills have promoted Brady to head coach, it may make it an easier sell to come and play for a team that went from a defensive coach to an offensive coach.

2. AJ Brown

How many times have the Bills been linked to this superstar player, and they haven't been able to bring him in, probably due to McDermott? Who knows...Now, the Philadelphia Eagles' talented receiver may want to come to Buffalo and play for another offensive-minded coach in Brady. He already had Nick Sirianni in Philly, and he would be coming to the team that also runs the tush push effectively.

He's a skilled wide receiver. Allen will have to throw to him, too, and he's big enough to be able to block in the run game. Under a Brady-coached team, everybody touches the ball, and if you don't block as a receiver, you will not get the ball.

3. DeAndre Hopkins

Just recently, Hopkins was in the public eye, saying that if he joined the Bills, he and Allen could do dangerous things. Brady would absolutely love scheming up deep ball plays from Allen to D-Hop.

What would work with this signing is signing him to a one-year deal and hopefully watching him ball out, just like defensive end Joey Bosa did last year on his one-year deal.

Also, if he stays, Keon Coleman could benefit from and learn from the thirty-three-year-old some tricks of the trade, and the importance of being "responsible".

4. Jaylen Waddle

When the Bills wanted Waddle at the trade deadline last season, it felt as if they were actually trying to get a receiver after failing to land Jakobi Meyers, who ended up in Jacksonville.

But when the deal included giving up a future 1st-round pick in 2027 for him, it made sense for Beane and the Bills to pull out of it.

Waddle is a good receiver, but he's more of a go-route vertical speedster who wasn't worth giving up a first for. If it were a 3rd or a 4th, then it would have made sense. This year, I'm for trading for Waddle.

5. Carnell Tate

As the unanimous No. 1 wide receiver available in the NFL Draft, Tate would be a great fit for the Bills. He is the ideal size at 6 feet 3 inches, 195 pounds. He is a speedy route runner who can also block in the running game and could be a candidate for offensive rookie of the year.

6. Jordan Tyson

Tyson is the next best receiver prospect. If the Bills want, they could get the 6-foot-3, 200-pound talent, a strong, physical receiver who can make contested catches deep against big corners and safeties.

Just like Tate, however, he may not be there at pick number 26, so the Bills may have to trade up in the draft to get him.

7. Denzel Boston

Just because his last name is Boston doesn't mean he wants to play for the New England Patriots. Yes, they're in the Super Bowl, but the Bills are picking at 26th overall, which is a perfect spot to grab the 6 foot 4 inch 209 pound athlete from the Washington Huskies.

He is also another tall, big-bodied receiver who can make the tough catches and body himself up against defensive backs.

8. Chris Bell

At 6 feet 2 inches, 220 pounds, Bell is a pass catcher who's built like a linebacker, but runs like a track star. He has that rare combination of size, strength, and speed, and if the Bills were able to get him in the top 40, he could give Coleman a run for his money.
