It was quite the win for the Buffalo Bills in Week 6, but in a way that you may have expected. With the Baltimore Ravens losing not one, but two of their quarterbacks due to injury, Buffalo had no reason to lose this game. They came away with the 36-10 win but Buffalo’s offense wasn’t clicking well until the second half which was a bit concerning.
However, Buffalo managed to outscore Baltimore 20-3 in the second half and gave the Ravens no chance. Even though this may not have been the most convincing win by the Bills, a win is a win, and it's against a fellow AFC team that they now own the tiebreaker against.
Coming out of this win, there are 7 shoutouts to give but there is also 1 loser for the Bills in this win.
Winners and losers for Bills from Week 8 win over Ravens
Winners:
CB Davison Igbinosun
The rookie cornerback continues to be a standout and if it’s not official already, he should be the CB2 across from Christian Benford. Not only does Igbinosun continue to be one of the better corners in man-to-man coverage, but he managed to get his first career interception that helped the Bills create a two-score game going into halftime.
WR DJ Moore
DJ Moore had been dealing with a shoulder injury since Week 2 and after reinjuring it on Week 4, he missed the last two games for the Bills. He was able to return this week and his impact was made for this offense that had struggled to move the ball a bit through the air.
Moore finished with 4 catches for 82 yards and he got back into the endzone. His 49-yard catch helped put the Bills in scoring position that started Buffalo's run for the remainder of the game. Moore being back gives this offense a spark and if he can stay healthy, things are going only up for the Bills' offense.
TE Dalton Kincaid
Just like Moore, Dalton Kincaid showed up for Buffalo's offense as he led the team with 86 receiving yards and he also managed to get a touchdown as well himself. I've said it before and I'll say it again, a healthy Kincaid is a dangerous Kincaid. If only he could just consistently stay healthy, he would easily be a Top-5 tight end.
OLB Greg Rousseau
After getting 6 sacks in the first three games, Greg Rousseau was a little quiet the last few games. However, he managed to get his 7th sack of the year against the Ravens. In addition, he also had 2 pass deflections, 3 QB hits, and 3 total tackles.
The pressure was coming along from Buffalo's defense, but who knows if it would have been if Lamar Jackson never got hurt.
S Cole Bishop
There was a play in the second half where Cole Bishop made a huge hit on Tyler Huntley on a safety blitz that forced a turnover on Baltimore. Bishop also was solid against the pass in helping the secondary.
Bishop hasn't taken that big step that fans were hoping for under Jim Leonhard, but this could be the momentum starter for him moving forward.
K Tyler Bass
Through their 7 games, Tyler Bass has yet to miss a field goal try this season in which he has really gained a lot of trust back from Bills Mafia. What makes him even more of a winner is that he converted on not 1, but 2 field goals of 50+ yards. Coming into Week 8, Bass had yet to try a field goal from 50+ yards. He hit one from 56 yards and another from 51 yards.
DC Jim Leonhard
I get it, Leonhard and the defense were preparing for a matchup against Lamar Jackson. With him going down on Baltimore's first offensive play of the game, it changed the gameplan for the Ravens. Then things went from bad to worse when Tyler Huntley went down with an injury himself.
Joe Fagnano stepped in for the Ravens which was a huge mismatch with Buffalo having the big time advantage. Jim Leonhard didn't lose focus on the gameplan himself and Buffalo's defense played extremely well. The unit walked away with only allowing 144 total yards, allowing 3/13 third-down conversions, getting 4 sacks and an interception.
This was a confidence boost for the defense, no matter who was under center.
Loser:
TE Jackson Hawes
Were the Bills perfect? No, absolutely not. However, the only player that really stood out in a not-so-great way was tight end Jackson Hawes. He was responsible for Josh Allen's interception of the game where Allen threw the ball right into Hawes' hands, in which he couldn't reel it and popped it up in the air right into a Ravens defender's hands that helped Baltimore get onto the board.
In addition, he also had a holding penalty called on him as well which set the Bills back on a drive.
