The NFL Draft is coming to a close today and it's been an exciting time the last two days. Now we are looking to see how teams will shape out the rest of their roster. Even though a lot of the attention has been on the first three rounds, fans should never count out their favorite teams finding hidden gems.
The Buffalo Bills kicked off their Day 2 journey by trading up from No. 56 to No. 41 to draft defensive tackle T.J. Sanders out of South Carolina. To move up 15 spots, the Bills had to trade away both of their second rounders (No. 56 and No. 62) and a foruth rounder (No. 109) in exchange for No. 41, No. 72 (3rd-round) and No. 240 (7th round). So, the Bills did end up getting a third round pick afterall.
With that third round pick, the Bills spent it on edge rusher Landon Jackson from Arkansas. Buffalo has had a great first two days of the NFL Draft and now it's time for them to finish strong. They have seven picks to use in Rounds 4-7 so Brandon Beane can really solidify this roster with some great potential depth pickups.
6 prospects Bills should be going for on Day 3 of NFL Draft
RB Jaydon Blue, Texas
Jaydon Blue visited the Bills on a pre-draft visit so there is some interest. Blue has a similar play-style to James Cook, who is being very demanding about a new contract from the Bills. If Buffalo is looking to move on from Cook, then bringing in Blue to develop in 2024 only makes the most sense.
WR Jaylen Royals, Utah State
How Jalen Royals is still available on the third day is beyond me. He certainly has the talent to have gone in the second round, but he will be looking to hear his name get called today. Royals is a dynamic player who can help out the Bills on offense and be a key weapon outside the numbers for Josh Allen.
WR Dont'e Thornton Jr., Tennessee
If the Bills wanted to grab themselves a big weapon for Allen, they should be looking no further than Dont’e Thornton out of Tennessee. At 6’5”, Thornton has fantastic size to line up on the outside. He averaged 20+ yards per reception in two out of four seasons in college as well. The Bills have started going towards in the direction of getting bigger receivers. Thornton would be a perfect addition to the offense.
S Billy Bowman Jr., Oklahoma
I would be very shocked if the Bills left this draft without getting more secondary help. Instead of going for another corner, maybe they can get some safety help with Billy Bowman Jr. out of Oklahoma. He’s great in pass coverage having 11 interceptions the last three seasons. Bowman would be a great player to watch in training camp if he gets brought to the Bills.
OL Jack Nelson, Wisconsin
You can never have too many offensive linemen heading into training camp, especially when you have versatile players who can play both guard and tackle. Jack Nelson has played a majority of his career at left tackle at Wisconsin, but can be plugged into the guard spot if needed. Not to mention, just like Buffalo, Wisconsin is a cold place to play in so Nelson already has an advantage there.
LB Danny Stutsman, Oklahoma
Danny Stutsman was a tackling machine for the Sooners, recording 100+ total tackles the last three seasons. He can stop the run and he can covers tight ends, making him a valuable player for the Bills to keep an eye on as Day 3 approaches.
