4 winners from Bills' back-and-forth win over Dolphins in Week 9
By Brandon Ray
Ever since the Buffalo Bills got embarrassed in Week 5 against the Baltimore Ravens, they have turned the page and have been moving forward ever since. They are winners of their last four games, which includes two divisional wins. They are coming out of Week 9 with a walk-off 30-27 win over the Miami Dolphins and improve to 7-2.
Not only are they on top of the AFC East, but the closest team to them is the New York Jets who are at 3-6 and have already lost to the Bills once this season. This was an important win for the Bills because it gives them even more of an advantage as the playoff picture starts to slowly be put together. With two losses already to Baltimore and Houston, and with Indianapolis and Kansas City coming up, the Bills are going to need all the help that they can get.
The Bills and their fanbase will get to enjoy another Victory Monday and it is because of these four Bills.
RB Ray Davis
The rookie running back out of Kentucky has been a great addition for the Bills since their Week 6 win over the Jets. This week against the Dolphins was no different for him. He averaged five yards per carry and had a beautiful 63-yard touchdown catch that ultimately was a turning point for the Bills’ comeback.
James Cook is the main back without question. However, Davis has proved that he is a great complimentary back to Cook and his physicality should help Buffalo in the colder games that are coming up.
DE Greg Rousseau
Buffalo’s defense was a little shaky against the Dolphins. Tua Tagovailoa was only sacked once early in the first quarter and he was dishing the ball out effectively through all four quarters. However, Greg Rousseau was very much present against Miami. He recorded seven total tackles as well as the only sack that Tua took. Rousseau also caused a little bit of pressure, atleast more than the rest of his teammates on the defensive line.
His impressive play continues to be demonstrated and we are getting closer to seeing him get a good-sized payday.
QB Josh Allen
It’s no surprise to see Josh Allen on this list. After a little bit of a slow start in the first half, Allen vastly turned things around and he led the Bills’ comeback that included three touchdowns. He has a history of dominating the Dolphins and today was no different.
Even through the adversity that the Bills offense faced against Miami, Allen made a lot of impressive plays that helped them move the chains and kept the Dolphins offense off of the field.
K Tyler Bass
Last but certainly not least, kicker Tyler Bass is the reason why the Bills are celebrating this win. Sure, he had a missed PAT kick in the third quarter and even kicked the ball at the crossbar that bounced in. However, he made up for it with ten seconds to go with the game tied 27-27.
In order for the Bills to walk out of this game with a win, Bass needed to hit a 61-yard field goal. He hit it like it was his everyday job. Bass won the game for the Bills and set a new franchise record with his 61-yard game-winning field goal.
