One of the toughest decisions that the front office for the Buffalo Bills has to make is deciding who is going to be suiting up for the regular season and who will be potentially finding a new team. It’s never easy, but it’s all part of the business.
Sean McDermott, Brandon Beane, and the rest of the front office tends to pick the right players to join the 53-man roster and there are some obvious locks as well. We all know players like Josh Allen, James Cook, Keon Coleman, Dion Dawkins, Ed Oliver, Terrel Bernard, and Christian Benford are guaranteed locks for the Bills.
While some of the attention is focused on the big names, there are also underrated players that are more of a lock to make the roster than you think. Going into this season, there are four players who may not be super well-known, but provide a lot of value and should be guaranteed locks for the final roster.
4 underrated Bills who should be locks to make final 53-man roster
OL Alec Anderson
Out of all the names on this, Alec Anderson might be the most well-known simply due to the fact that he is the swing tackle for the offense and does a great job at it. While he can sometimes be in the middle of a scuffle in both practice and a game, his passion and energy is something that the Bills need to be successful on offense.
Fans should expect Anderson to line up on the field a lot during the season and help establish the run just like he did last season.
OL Tylan Grable
Buffalo’s sixth-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft got some playing time last season and he was solid. At the end of the day, the Bills like to keep their extra linemen on the roster for various reasons. Grable has shown to be a good pass protector and because of that, he’ll more than likely get a backup spot for the season.
DB Cam Lewis
Cam Lewis started in six games last season and he took advantage of his opportunity. It was the most games he started in a season. Not to mention, he hasn’t missed a game in the last two seasons. Lewis can line up at corner or at safety, providing the Bills some versatility in a secondary that is in a bit of a rebuild.
DE Javon Solomon
The second-year edge rusher showed a lot of promise of what he can do for the Bills when he stepped onto the field. He managed to record two sacks last year and going into this season, don’t be surprised if he continues to be consistent. The only issue that he faces is being part of a crowded edge rusher room so while he should be a lock to make the roster, we’ll have to see how much playing time he gets.
