Tonight is the night, Bills Mafia! It’s not just the home opener for the Buffalo Bills, but it’s the debut of the new Highmark Stadium. After getting a very impressive Week 1 win over the Texans, the Bills will host the Detroit Lions who are coming off a thrilling 31-30 overtime win over the New Orleans Saints.
Both teams have high powered offenses, but they each also have some concerns on their defenses when you take into consideration what happened last week in their respective games. Now on a short week in front of a national audience, they will be tested.
The Bills will have to find a way to limit Jahmyr Gibbs on the ground, and the Lions are going to have to deal with Josh Allen and his magic that he can put together at any moment. Heading into tonight's thriller, Bills Mafia is looking for the same result they saw last week with the offense, but a different result for the better with the defense.

4 bold predictions for Bills in Week 1 primetime
Bradley Chubb comes away with 2+ sacks
It was Greg Rousseau who was the MVP of the defense in Week 1 against the Houston Texans, but I’ve got a feeling that Bradley Chubb is going to make the impact that Bills fans want to see against the Lions. He was able to provide pressure in the pocket, but it didn’t turn into true sacks.
With the Lions being down starters in the trenches, Chubb will have a great opportunity to make an impact to help slow down the Lions’ offense. Rousseau had 2 sacks in Week 1, and now I’m calling Chubb to get that performance tonight.
Bills' offense runs through James Cook
The Bills were all about moving the ball through the air against the Texans, and the rushing game eventually fizzled out. Buffalo only had 86 total rushing yards against the Texans with James Cook getting just 57 yards. Even though Detroit’s secondary is extremely concerning, I have this feeling that the offense is going to get Cook involved a lot more.
Joe Brady talked this week about Cook and trusting him despite his almost costly 4th quarter fumble in Week 1, so this is the perfect opportunity to trust him the most.
The defense limits Jahmyr Gibbs
Buffalo’s run-defense wasn’t terrible against the Texans, but they still gave up 124 yards on the ground. Now, they will be tested against a Top 3 running back in Jahmyr Gibbs, who is coming off a 156-yards and 2 touchdown performance against the Saints.
Jim Leonhard didn't have the best welcoming moment as a defensive coordinator against the Texans. The defense looked like they were lost at times, and penalties also made an impact as well. With this high powered Lions offense coming to town, this is the perfect chance for Leonhard to show Bills Mafia that he can improve this defense by limiting Gibbs.
Buffalo puts up 40+ points
Just four days ago, we saw the Bills’ offense put up 36 points on the mighty Texans defense. They didn’t miss a beat and they showed the entire NFL that they are for real.
With the Lions having a defense that is a major liability, and allowing the Saints to crawl back into the game and force overtime, Buffalo has a great chance to put up their first 40+ point game. Plus, it would be an amazing first memory in the new Highmark Stadium.
