Coming here very shortly, the Buffalo Bills will be playing football against the Carolina Panthers in their first preseason game of the new era that the Bills have put themselves in. After coaching changes, roster additions and subtractions, and training camp, it’s finally time for some football. Who cares if it’s just the preseason, it’s football and it's time for evaluations to begin.
Joe Brady made it clear that any player that is healthy, will indeed play, and it’s the right approach to kick off the new era underneath him. The starters don’t have to play for a long time, but just enough. The backups will be getting the majority of playing time, which is expected. However, there are four players that Bills fans should be keeping a close eye on during today's game.

LB Kaleb Elarms-Orr
When it’s all said and done, Kaleb Elarms-Orr could be the biggest star player to come out of this draft class for the Bills. Even as a 4th-round pick out of TCU, Elarms-Orr has earned a ton of praise throughout the summer. He brings a ton of intensity and he is all business. It’s something that fans should want to see from NFL players, and now Elarms-Orr will get his chance to show it in a real-live game.
Bills fans could very well see a future captain play in his first game with the team today, and Elarms-Orr should get every opportunity to show why the Bills got a major steal in him from April.
OL Lloyd Cushenberry III
Connor McGovern suffered an injury during the “Return of the Blue and Red” practice last Saturday and even though he should be fine for the regular season, that gives someone like Lloyd Cushenberry a chance to show why he deserves the backup center position. Coming to Buffalo from the Tennessee Titans, Cushenberry has the experience advantage over Sedrick Van Pran-Granger.
If he can prove to the coaching staff that he deserves the backup spot over Pran-Granger, that will say a lot about him for the better.
QB Kyle Allen
The backup quarterback position for the Bills has a lot of uncertainty considering how things have gone this summer. However, we can only make a fair judgement based on what happens during the game. Kyle Allen is expected to be the backup to Josh Allen, but he will need to show that he can be an average quarterback to keep the offense going as smoothly as possible.
OLB T.J. Parker
Buffalo spent their first draft pick that they had back in April on T.J. Parker to pair with Bradley Chubb and Greg Rousseau. The Bills’ pass rush has been inconsistent over the year, and Parker is coming in with hopes to fix that. He does have great guys to learn from, and he’s had the chance to learn from them this summer. Now it’s time to see what he can do against an actual opponent.
