If we’ve learned anything about Brandon Beane and the Buffalo Bills, it’s that they are going to be aggressive. They’ve made some bold decisions over the last five years, including trading for Stefon Diggs, making an in-season move for Amari Cooper, and signing big-name veteran pass rushers like Von Miller and Joey Bosa.

The Bills know they are in a Super Bowl window and are doing everything they can to maximize their chances. So who are some players the Bills could hypothetically target via trade before the midseason deadline? Here are three way-too-early trade candidates to keep an eye on going into training camp:

Should the Bills trade for one of these players during the 2025 season?

D.J. Moore, WR, Chicago Bears

It’s no secret that wide receiver could be an area of interest for the Bills and D.J. Moore might be the biggest name available. The Bears selected Rome Odunze in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL Draft and then picked Colston Loveland and Luther Burden with back-to-back selections in the 2025 draft.

Moore would be the best receiver on the roster and can play on the outside and in the slot. He's averaged over 70 yards from scrimmage per game since 2019 and is still just 28. He's not a true No. 1 receiver, but he's a fantastic player who could thrive in the right situation.

If Keon Coleman doesn’t take a big step forward in the first two months of the 2025 season, Moore could be an intriguing candidate for Buffalo. Expect Chicago to receive numerous calls regarding Moore as the season progresses.

Malik Hooker, S, Dallas Cowboys

You can make a case that the safety position is the weakest spot on the roster going into the season for the Bills. And while they hope someone like Cole Bishop can take a big step forward in Year 2, that isn’t a guarantee.

The Cowboys have a lot of safety depth but likely won’t re-sign Malik Hooker after the end of the 2025 season. He has managed to stay healthy after several injury-plagued seasons and could provide Buffalo with a much-needed free safety who can cover the middle of the field.

Hooker is no longer the elite athlete that we saw at Ohio State and with the Colts, but he is a much better and more consistent player than anyone Buffalo currently has on the roster. If the Cowboys are going nowhere in the middle of the season, it wouldn’t be a surprise if they moved him for a late-round pick and opted to play some younger defensive backs instead.

Romeo Doubs, WR, Green Bay Packers

Another option at receiver, Doubs has primarily been an outside receiver for Green Bay and is in the final year of his contract. But with Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, and Dontayvion Wicks all ahead of him on the roster, Doubs might opt to get out of Green Bay to earn more targets.

Doubs isn’t the most athletic receiver, but he does a great job of winning jump balls and in the red zone. If the Bills just want to rent a receiver for a half-season if Coleman or Josh Palmer struggle, Doubs could be a viable target, and it wouldn’t break the bank to acquire him.
