When it comes to the NFL Draft, anything can happen and we have seen all kinds of scenarios happen. Teams have made shocking picks and trades that shook up the NFL world. Of course, it can be an exciting time for fans if their favorite team made a huge move to better themselves. On the other side of things, we have seen teams make some very questionable decisions that had fans confused and angry.

Just two years ago, Bills fans saw Buffalo go into the 2024 NFL Draft with a first round pick at No. 28 overall. They decided to trade that pick to the Kansas City Chiefs who traded up to draft wideout Xavier Worthy. That move made a lot of people question Buffalo because they essentially gave the Chiefs a receiver, despite Buffalo needing a receiver.

Buffalo received the 32nd pick and then would eventually trade out of that pick to go back one spot while the Carolina Panthers jumped into the first round to draft wideout Xavier Legette. So, the Bills traded two opportunities to draft receivers, but would eventually draft Keon Coleman which has not been successful at all.

This specific scenario is brought up because it was something that Bills fans may not have expected and it caused confusion and anger. With the NFL Draft coming up here very soon, there are three specific situations that Bills fans better hope not happen.

3 NFL Draft nightmare scenarios for Bills fans

1.) Bills trading up in first round

After their first round pick, the Bills don’t have a pick until the third round at No. 91. If they decide to stay put and draft someone at No. 26, that’s fine. If they decide to trade back to gain extra draft capital, that’s fine as well.

The one thing that they can’t do is trade up and give up all kinds of draft capital unless it’s for a top tier player that has fallen for some reason. Buffalo doesn’t have the draft capital to give up to move up so the best choice is to either stay at No. 26 or trade back.

2.) Patriots landing a top WR prospect

The Bills just watched the New England Patriots make the Super Bowl in Drake Maye’s second season as a pro. Buffalo still has yet to make it to the big game with Josh Allen which is already bad enough. Even though New England has great work to do to keep building around Maye on the outside, they are not afraid to be aggressive.

Even though the Patriots are set to pick at No. 31 in the first round, we have seen top talent drop in the draft. It happens every year. If New England is somehow able to secure a top wide receiver prospect for Maye, it not only improves their wideout room but it gives Maye someone to grow with for the foreseeable future.

3.) Dolphins gaining more future draft capital

It’s no secret that the Miami Dolphins are in a rebuild, and rightfully so. It’s a new era with a new regime. They let go of players like Tua Tagovailoa, Bradley Chubb and Tyreek Hill, while also trading away Jaylen Waddle to the Denver Broncos. The Dolphins are looking to build for the future.

Right now, they have two first round picks and while they could use those picks on first round talent, who is to say that they won’t use those picks as potential trade assets to gain more draft capital this year and next year?

It’s going to be a little bit before Miami is seriously competitive, but if they gain a ton of draft capital over the next year or two, they would have the chance to truly build from the ground up.
