Buffalo Bills training camp is just a few days away, meaning as the Bills make the short trip to Rochester, the front office will begin assessing their roster. If they view any positions as a weakness, we may see one or two additions during or right before training camp.

The Bills' cap space isn’t looking friendly, with Spotrac showing Buffalo at $810K over the salary cap. Adding anyone will be challenging, but the Bills may have to work through it. Let’s take a look at several players the Bills could add soon.

3 players Bills should think about signing before training camp

DE Carl Lawson

With Landon Jackson placed on the active/PUP list, the Bills' depth has taken a hit on the defensive line. Lawson may not make it out of training camp, but he’ll give the Bills not only a much-needed body at the position but a solid veteran presence in a rebuilt unit.

He played solid for the Dallas Cowboys in 2024, appearing in 15 games and totaling five sacks and four tackles for loss. Lawson, who’s 30 years old, may come ring chase this season, and Buffalo would be his best chance.

S Jordan Poyer

Coming back to the Bills after signing with their division rival just a year ago? It may not be what some Bills fans want to see, but it’s what the Bills need. The Bills are currently carrying six safeties into training camp, the oldest being both Damar Hamlin and Taylor Rapp at 27 years old.

If Poyer is willing to accept a backup role and retire in Buffalo, as he said a couple of months ago, this could end up being a very solid addition for the Bills. Poyer, who’s 34 years old, didn’t have a great season in Miami last year with the Dolphins. He started in all 16 games he was active for, totaling just 98 tackles and three passes defended.

CB Emmanuel Mosely

Cornerback may not be the flashiest signing, but head coach Sean McDermott loves to have depth at the position. The Bills already added rookies Maxwell Hairston and Dorian Strong, along with Tre White and Dane Jackson, meaning there might not be a place on the roster for Mosley, but that’s perfectly fine.

After tearing his ACL twice and his pectoral, the 29-year-old corner may be running out of time, and training camp deals may be all that’s left for him. In 2021, his last season playing over 10 games, Mosley totaled 11 passes defended and one interception. Mosley played strictly on special teams last season, seeing 29 snaps. If he comes to Buffalo, he’ll likely see the same role again.
