One week from today, the Buffalo Bills will be taking the field for their season opener when they take on the Houston Texans down in Houston. This will mark as the official start for the Joe Brady era and the expectations have not changed at all for the Bills.
Changes may have happened on the coaching staff and on the roster, but fans are still expecting great things out of the Bills. Not only do the Bills have a bit of a new look to them, but they will also be playing in a new Highmark Stadium as well. This is the start of something brand new for fans, the coaches, and the players.
However, when it comes to the players, we know that the NFL is a business and sometimes, players only get a certain amount of time to play on a team. Going into this season, there are three players who are set to play on expiring contracts and it could very well be their last season as a member of the Bills.
These 3 Bills are in danger of not playing in Buffalo after 2026 season
LB Dorian Williams
Williams is one of the few inside linebackers on the team going into this season, and he is a great run supporter. With Buffalo having to deal with injuries at linebacker in recent memory, Williams has had some opportunities to make his impact. He had a solid 2024 season with 117 total tackles and 3 fumble recoveries when the Bills had lost Matt Milano for a majority of the season.
Now with the Bills having a rising rookie in Kaleb Elarms-Orr, Williams could very well be playing this year as an audition for other teams next year.
RB Ty Johnson
Buffalo has one of the best rushing attacks that is led by James Cook, and the supporting cast of Ray Davis and Ty Johnson is quality depth. With Johnson, he is a hard runner who can block well in pass protection. With Cook getting a new deal last offseason and Davis still having two another year on his rookie deal after 2026, the Bills could easily draft a running back next year to fill out the committee, which would mean letting Johnson go in free agency would be the most logical move.
S Damar Hamlin
For the second consecutive offseason, the Bills brought back Damar Hamlin on a one-year deal and he managed to earn a roster spot going into the regular season. Hamlin didn't play much last season due to an injury, but he managed to impress the coaching staff during the preseason to take a roster spot from Geno Stone.
The Bills will still have Cole Bishop under contract after this season, and they drafted Jalon Kilgore who could be a potential steal if he can develop his game over time. If the Bills have their starting safety duo in Bishop and Kilgore, or even if they decide to run it back with Bishop and C.J. Gardner-Johnson, it would make more sense for the Bills to draft another safety rather than bring Hamlin back on yet another one-year deal.
