3 affordable free agents Bills must consider signing before OTAs begin

All three of these players come at a reasonable price, and they all fill a need for veteran bodies before OTAs.

As OTAs are just around the corner, beginning on May 18th, the Buffalo Bills are not done addressing some key areas on the defensive side of the ball. They can do so by looking for affordable veteran players who could provide immediate help and tutor the young draft picks already on the roster.

With the Bills having a little over $10 million, according to Spotrac left in cap space to spend in 2026, let's take a look at two talented, experienced defensive players and one familiar face who could return to help the team.

3 free-agents Bills could sign at a reasonable price

1.) OLB Jeremiah Moon

Moon would be an excellent addition to the Bills' young defensive unit. After selecting T.J. Parker out of Clemson in the second round (pick 35) of the NFL Draft, the team could use another body to strengthen the defense and supply leadership. The 6-foot-5, 245-pound athlete played in a 3-4 defense in Pittsburgh, which would fit perfectly in Jim Leonard's defense.

The skilled athlete would fit the Brandon Beane special, as he is a big, powerful outside linebacker. Moon projects to be a stout run defender with the capability to get after the quarterback.

By bringing in a player like Moon, the position could benefit from adding a veteran personality to build up the defense, and with his value of about $1.030 million, according to Spotrac, the Bills would have money left to spend on the next two players.

2.) DT Greg Gaines

After failing to draft Kayden McDonald and passing on signing D.J. Reader, the Bills absolutely need to address their true nose tackle position. They currently have Deone Walker, who, at 6-foot-7, 331 pounds, is expected to start. They also have Zion Logue, who bulked up in the offseason to 6-foot-6, 325 pounds, who is looking to back up Walker.

They really could use a veteran player at that position, and Gaines might be the right size and cost. The 6-foot-1, 312-pound athlete may not be the ideal size for a typical nose tackle, but at least he is over 310 pounds, a reassuring choice that should instill confidence in the team's decision, whereas fifth-round pick Zane Durant is only 294 pounds.

Gaines is expected to make about $2 million per year, according to Spotrac.

3.) CB Tre'Davious White

Beane has hinted in the past that when they released White this offseason, he would want nothing more than to bring him back in Jim Leonhard's defense. The 5-foot-11, 192-pound corner is a great player who is a favorite among fans in Western New York.

Last season, White made 29 tackles, with one interception, and 10 passes batted down. He was also brought in as a veteran mentor for injured rookie Maxwell Hairston.

He could come back and play second outside corner, while once again being a veteran presence to Hairston, Davison Igbunosun, and Toriano Pride Jr.

This reunion makes total sense, as he would cost about $1.2 million according to Spotrac and could finish his career in Orchard Park, retiring as a Buffalo Bill.
