Since Sean McDermott took over the Buffalo Bills in 2017, he has led the team to the playoffs in all but one year (2018). He got to the playoffs with and without Josh Allen under center. However, since 2020 the Bills have dominated the AFC East and have had no less than a divisional round appearance since then.

They have been in two conference championship games, but have been knocked out by the Kansas City Chiefs. Four of the last five playoff meetings between these two teams have ended with a Bills heartbreak. Can 2025 be the year that Bills Mafia doesn’t experience sadness in the playoffs? We sure hope so.

AFC playoff-seeding predictions have AFC running through Buffalo

The Bills have never been the #1 seed in the McDermott-era but Lou Scataglia from NFL Spin Zone believes that 2025 will be the year that the AFC runs through Buffalo. Scataglia predicted the AFC playoff teams for this upcoming season and the division winners are the Bills (No. 1, AFC East), Ravens (No. 2, AFC North), Texans (No. 3, AFC South), Broncos (No. 4, AFC West).

Then in the wild card spots are the Chiefs (No. 5), Chargers (No. 6), and Bengals (No. 7). Yeah, you read that right. Three teams from the AFC West and the Broncos are the team that wins the division…that’s a different discussion for a different day.

Either way, Scataglia is spot on by believing that the Bills will run the AFC and every opponent that they face will be in Buffalo no matter what. Now granted, we have seen the Bills lose at home in the playoffs, but having the bye week in the wild card round which gives them extra rest is more important than we might think. Here's what Scataglia said about this prediction:

"The Buffalo Bills have a cake-walk schedule in the 2025 NFL Season and also have one of the best rosters in the NFL. It truly should be no issue for this team to make the playoffs, win the division yet again, and earn the no. 1 seed in the AFC."

The Bills have had no issues scoring in the playoffs. But they have deeply struggled on defense which is why Brandon Beane was so aggressive to beef up the unit. Barring any major injuries, the Bills are set for a major run in 2025 that could lead to their first Super Bowl trophy in franchise history.
