Third Round: Siaki Ika

Original Pick: Dorian Williams

In the third round, the Buffalo Bills drafted linebacker Dorian Williams and he certainly adds depth at a position that needs it. However, he is probably a year or two away from making an impact and the Bills need a more immediate answer to replace Tremaine Edmunds.

A better pick at this point might have been defensive tackle Siaki Ika, who went seven picks later to the Cleveland Browns.

After the draft, Brandon Beane said the draft board didn’t fall in a way they could address defensive tackle but Ika would have been a player who provides more potential this season as well as long-term for the defense.

The former Baylor defensive tackle is a huge force on the interior of the defensive line that could rotate with DaQuan Jones as a rookie at one-tech and then take over as the starter next season, a year where the Bills don’t have any players under contract presently.

It is possible that Dorian Williams could become a starting linebacker, but there is enough question marks that Ika would have been a better pick here.
