Shelby Harris

Shelby Harris played last season with the Seattle Seahawks after he was included by the Denver Broncos in their ill-advised trade for Russell Wilson last offseason. He had played five seasons with Denver after starting his career with the Raiders, where he played two seasons there.

With the Broncos, Harris was very productive with three of his five seasons registering 5.5 or more sacks and in total had 34 tackles for a loss and 44 QB hits in 75 games. This past season, Harris had only 44 total tackles, five tackles for a loss, six QB hits and two sacks. The dip in production was one of the reasons that the Seahawks would release Harris this offseason.

Shelby Harris will be turning 32 years old before the upcoming season and last year could be an indication that he is starting to lose a step as he nears the end of his career. However, the Seahawks defense as a whole was awful, especially against the run, and all that blame can’t fall completely on Shebly Harris.

He is a player that could play around 30% of the defensive snaps and on a more talented defensive line might be able to bounce back to what he did while with the Denver Broncos.
