The defensive tackle position is one that the Buffalo Bills have set for this year but have major questions looming after the season with no players under contract past this season. One player that seems almost certain to be playing somewhere else in 2024 is former first round pick Ed Oliver.

If the Buffalo Bills want to replace Oliver, one option would be Calijah Kancey out of the University of Pittsburgh. He has similar measurables and testing to Oliver but the skill set couldn’t be more different coming out of college.

Steve Palazzolo of Pro Football Focus tweeted a comparison of the two players and Kancey excels as a pass rusher while Oliver’s strength is against the run. While Kancey wouldn’t be an exact replacement for Ed Oliver, there is a case to be made that his skill set would be a better fit in this defense as they try to generate more of a pass rush from their front four.
