The Buffalo Bills signed free agent Kyle Allen this offseason to replace Case Keenum, who was the backup last season. If the Bills were to draft a quarterback, and there could be some options on Day 3, it would likely be Matt Barkley and not Kyle Allen that would be cut.

Matt Barkley has been with the Buffalo Bills for a number of seasons dating back to 2018 when he was signed mid-season when the team was dealing with injuries at the position. He would stay with the team through the 2020 season as the primary backup to Allen.

However, after that season the team elected to sign Mitchell Trubisky and Barkley signed with the Titans. He would have stops with the Panthers and Falcons during the 2021 season before the Buffalo Bills brought him back last offseason.

This time though Matt Barkley was primarily a member of the practice squad last year. He did sign a reserve/futures contract after the season but if the Buffalo Bills draft a young quarterback that they want to develop, that spot on the practice squad would probably go to him and Matt Barkley might not have a roster spot.
