The next linebacker who could be a Day 2 option for the Buffalo Bills in the 2023 NFL Draft is Trenton Simpson out of Clemson. He appeared in 25 games over the past two seasons and had 137 total tackles, 16.5 tackles for a loss, and nine sacks, with five passes defended and two forced fumbles.

Similar to Drew Sanders, Simpson may not be a true off-ball linebacker and whichever team drafts him will need to be creative. He moves well and has the speed to go sideline to sideline but may not have the necessary size needed at middle linebacker at only 6’2″ and 235 pounds.

The other reason the Buffalo Bills may be hesitant to draft Trenton Simpson is that he may need some time to develop, as described in the scouting report on NFL.com. If Simpson is the pick, the Buffalo Bills do have some options this year with A.J. Klein, Tyrel Dodson, and Terrel Bernard to give him time to develop but it is certainly a risk for this season.
